Here is the “A to Z” basic information on student reading opportunities.
All 4th Grade students will:
- complete a monthly reading log (book summary)
- reach personal AR goal each trimester
Optional:
- Book it! – keep track of how many minutes you read each day on your “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” calendar. Â At the end of the month, bring your calendar to school. Â We will calculate the total number of minutes students read each month. Â All participants earn a FREE personal pizza from Pizza Hut, for each monthly calendar they turn in. (October-March)
- Battle of the Books – Join a reading competition team! Â Each year small teams (about 5 students) work together answering comprehension questions about specific books. Â Some of the books this year include The One and Only Ivan, Lulu and the Brontosaurus and I SURVIVED: The Sinking of the Titanic. Â University Schools has the honor of hosting the District Battle of the Books competition in April. Â Visit our school library with questions.
