Today students attended “The Night Before Christmas” the play at the Union Colony Civic Center. Â The Stampede Theater Troupe is always auditioning for upcoming shows. Â Two of the main actors in the play we saw today were only 12 years old. Perhaps your 4th grader should audition in the future.
Students are currently working on a reading project comparing versions of The Night Before Christmas.  Hundreds of books have been published featuring Clement C. Moore‘s poem, “Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house…”, while the illustrations differ.  Our students are doing an in-depth study comparing several (up to 14) different versions of The Night Before Christmas books.  Students locate the copyright date, publisher, cost of book, dedication and more.  Then after reading through the story, students stop to analyze specific ways the illustrations change from one version to another.  It has been a really fun learning project!
To keep with our theme, students have decorated the classroom door (for the door decorating contest). Â Our theme is “Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house, every creature was reading, even the mouse.” Â Our 4th graders are brilliant and creative. Â Stop by and check out our classroom door.
