Today Dana Sullivan an Author and Illustrator visited our school. Â During the morning 4th and 5th grade students enjoyed a Graphic Novel Workshop in the small gym. Â It was interesting for students to focus on what type of emotions a character can feel. Â Characters in the stories we create will be more real to a reader if they have real emotions in the illustrations that we create. Â
Dana Sullivan shared that most kids draw regularly until about 5th grade. Â Sadly, students draw less or stop drawing entirely during middle school and high school. Â Drawing, sketching and illustrating words on a page is an important skill to have.
Great work this morning! Â Keep writing and drawing!
A special thanks to Rachel Budzynski for inviting Dana Sullivan to visit our school.
