Building a “Kapok Tree”

Our students have been busy designing and building a “Kapok Tree” for the performance in a few weeks. Reclaimed wood was used for the foundation of the tree. Students even used their recess time to work in our MakerSpace to design and construct the tree.

After working as a team of dedicated students, the tree is nearly complete. Once students add the finishing touches, we will relocate the tree to our stage in preparation for the performance next week.

The play is based on the picture book, The Great Kapok Tree and students are even making various animal masks and small costume pieces to wear on stage. Looking forward to a meaningful performance that will inspire our audience to care for the rainforest.
